I pulled in on a complete impulse and ordered a small twist cone dipped in cherry, a favorite combo from my youth.  I was thrilled because it seems like twist cones have started to become hard to find. The drive thru staff were quick and friendly. While this small, local business may not be ice cream royalty, they have a menu that will feel very familiar. And the small cone, I thought, was very generous in size.

LJ's (formerly Little John's) is a great Highland Park quick lunch stop. I'm a fan of the retro vibe and menu. This is the kind of place that would have been a regular Saturday stopping point for me as a kid.

A long time fixture in the Highland Park area, LJ's serves up very consistent burgers, tenderloins, pizza burgers (my favorite), and sides (fried mushrooms, French fries, etc.). Not to be overlooked, their milkshakes make a fine finish for any meal.

While old-school decor, the restaurant is kept clean despite the customer traffic. The bathroom, should you need it, is out back - no key required. If you need to be on your way, LJ's also has a drive-through.

Between nostalgia and a solid meal, LJ's will probably always be on my list of northside lunch stops.

Well tried LJ's today.  WOW.  For what I paid for a medium Malt@a certain Custard place on Southside I had a bigger Malt+Cheeseburger+Fies and it was ALL GOOD.  Malt was particularly thick&tasty. YUMMO!!!!!!

Very clean and friendly atmosphere, the food is a little pricey but everything is cooked to order
